Giant Bird Attacks And Kills Owner In Florida

Okay people, let's just stick to dogs, cats, and the occasional hamster or beta fish if you want a pet. Even if you want to breed an animal!

This sad story comes to us out of Gainesville, FL where a 75-year old man died after being attacked by a large emu-like bird called the Cassowary which the man was breeding. Marvin Hajos fell in his backyard where the bird was being kept, it was then after he fell that the bird attacked him.

The Cassowary is a rare bird that is native to Australia and New Guinea. The FWC considers the bird to be Class II wildlife meaning they pose a danger to humans and need to be kept in specific cages.

This is the same category that alligators, honey badgers, and clouded leopards fall in just to give you a feel for how dangerous this bird is.

According to the San Diego Zoo, the Cassowary is "rightfully considered the most dangerous bird in the world! Each 3-toed foot has a dagger-like claw on the inner toe that is up to 4 inches long. The cassowary can slice open any predator or potential threat with a single kick."

Authorities are still conducting an investigation into the attack, but as of right now it is being deemed an accident. For more on this story, click here.
