Nine-Year-Old Uses Birthday Money To Give Teacher “Pay Raise”

Most of us can agree that teachers deserve to be paid more for the work they do, including nine-year-old Parker Williams. He feels so strongly about it that he decided to give his third-grade teacher, Mary Hall Chambers, a $15 “bonus” from his own birthday money.

In his touching note to his teacher, Parker writes, “I don’t think teachers get paid enough … so will you accept this gift?” Chambers says it was the “cutest thing” she’s ever seen and while she returned the money, she told the little boy she appreciates the gesture and wrote, “Students like you are the reason I teach.”
