Japanese Man Is Married To A Hologram

A man from Japan shelled out almost $18,000 for his dream wedding in Tokyo, but all of his relatives refused to come
even his own mother. Why? It probably has something to do with the fact that he’s tying the knot with a hologram.

That’s right, the love of Akihiko Kondo’s [[ ah-kee-hee-koh cone-doh’s ]] life is Japan’s hit virtual pop star Hatsune Miku [[ hot-soo-nay mee-koo ]], an animated teen singer with bright blue pigtails down to the floor. Specifically, he said “I do” with a cat-sized plushie version of the virtual star at the ceremony
and he insists it’s true love.

Technically his marriage isn’t legal, but the couple has rings and a “marriage certificate” from the same company that produces a Hatsune Miku hologram device. Kondo is so pleased with his marriage, that he’s not even considering a real, human partner. “Two-dimensional characters can’t cheat, age or die,” he notes.
