Country Music Milestone: Loretta Lynn Makes Opry Debut

October 15, 1960, marks the anniversary of Loretta Lynnโ€™s Grand Ole Opry debut.

Fifty-eight years later, Lynn would be celebrated by CMT for her relentless contribution to music and entertainment. Lynn's lengthy list of accolades includes 3 Grammy Awards, 7 American Music Awards, 8 BMI Awards, 13 ACM Awards, 8 CMA awards, and numerous fan-voted honors, as well as, a Kennedy Center honor.

On Oct. 17th, The Coal Minerโ€™s Daughter will be receiving the CMT โ€œArtist of a Lifetimeโ€™ Honor at the 9th Annual 'CMT Artists of the Year' celebration which premiers live at 8 p.m. ET/PT from Nashville's Schermerhorn Symphony Center.

โ€œItโ€™s about dadgum time that we recognize women and not just country music but all music,โ€ Lynn, 86, said in a statement to The Associated Press. โ€œA big yee-haw to CMT for doing so."
